RICHARD C. COOLEY, SR.
It is with great
sorrow that we inform you of the death of Richard C. Cooley, Sr. on August 15, 2010. Below is an edited version of Rick's published obituary. Rick and Betty Cooley's business and collection will continue under the leadership of their son Brooks T. Cooley.
RICHARD C. COOLEY, SR.
Richard C. Cooley, Sr. “Rick” Age 75, of Hockessin, DE, went home to be with the Lord on August 15, 2010 at the Christiana Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.
After graduating from the Citadel in 1956, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army serving two years active duty. He continued to serve for the next 19 years in the Army Reserves retiring as a Colonel. Rick retired from the DuPont Company as an Occupational Health Consultant. He was a member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church and the Music Box Society International. He enjoyed mechanical music machines, traveling with his wife Betty and spending time with his grandchildren.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Brooks and Mallie Cooley. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty King Cooley, his sons, Richard C. Cooley, Jr. and Brooks T. Cooley, his grandchildren, Nathan, Benjamin and Etsuko, his brothers, Allan Brooks Cooley, Guy Edwin Cooley and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church 308 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711. Burial was at the Hockessin Friends Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Music Department.
