This organ is the largest street organ produced by Frati and is fully described in Bower's "Encylopedia of Automatic Musical Instruments". Although we have several fine crank organs of equal size or smaller in inventory, this ca.1880 organ is the most wonderful. With 21 brass piccolo pipes, 15 metal clarinet pipes, unusually large bottom pipes, this 129 pipes (total) instrument has the most full sound our Shoppe has ever heard.
The piece is receiving a museum-quality restoration in the shops of Ronald Schmuck of The Great Canadian Nickelodeon Company in Mount Forest, Canada. Each piece is being carefully and individually restored to original condition. The 9-tune barrel has been carefully inspected and the missing pins (only 50) replaced. The organ is completely original with the exception of one pipe which was replaced to original specifications. The case has received a 16 coat finish and hand-rubbing to return the original luster and sheen. The organ has three tune cards, suggesting that three musical barrels were used with the organ at one time. (Only one is with the organ now.) There are three adjustible pipe stops which allows you to "flavor" the fully orchestrated music to your tastes.
To finish out this magnificent restoration, a period, wooden cart was built to original specifications. This piece is currently available in our inventory.
