Most folks know that Ed Link produced the famous "Link" trainer aircraft, used to train pilots for combat, in the 1940s. Perhaps fewer people realize that Mr. Link also produced some of the finest, "endless" roll-playing orchestrions in the world. Renowned for the use of the "nonstop" music roll, a Link piano owner could listen to the 10-tune rolls for days until his wife found the "off" switch or until the divorce.
One of the finest orchestrions produced by the Link Company was the Link "A" Orchestrion, shown here. This model is extremely rare today. Few were built (less than 50) and fewer (only 14) survive today. This Orchestrion has now received a "100-points" restoration in the shops of the Great Canadian Nickelodeon Company. Four generations of expertise and excellence are now vested in the talents of this world class shop.
The instrument is completely original. During restoration, the pins, strings, hammers, etc. were replaced and the piano completely reconditioned (bearing adjusted as needed, etc). and the action made to function like new. The case has been refinished, inside and out and receive the Canadian shop's famous "12 coat, hand-rubbed finish." The internal instruments are restored to "new" and the pumps covered in leather, to provide years of additional service over cloth coverings.
The art glass is very important to any instrument of this type. It is completely original and is perfect! The double casters allow this big, heavy "girl" to be easily moved over hard wood floors without damage to the piano or floors.
One of the first questions a prospective buyer should ask is, "If this instrument was low production and is so rare today, where will I ever find enough music?" We have good news for you. The Orchestrion comes with 12 multi-tune endless rolls, all brand new recuts of the best music ever arranged for this instrument. Up to 50 additional endless rolls are readily available for purchase at low cost within the United States.
This instrument is available NOW and will entertain your guests for hours and hours without the need to change the roll. Before considering purchase, onsite personal inspection is highly recommended, to fully appreciate this wonderful restoration. Drop into our Shoppe and see this one in action. You will not be disappointed.
