LOSCHE JAZZ BAND ORCHESTRION

Losche Jazzband percussion section
(bass drum removed to show beaters).

Made by Losche in Germany about 1929 to capitalize on the continental passion for hot jazz, this orchestrion comprises a fine-quality piano with mandolin effect. Above, is a complete jazz percussion section with bass and snare drums, triangle, cymbal, and woodblock. The expressive possibilities are impressive: the bass drum has not one, but 4 beaters plus a shifting pneumatic. The woodblock has one beater and two expression pneumatics! The pump is a grand affair, completely filling the bottom section. Comes with 25 brand new recut 3-4 tune rolls (the arrangements are fantastic!). Ready to play for the next 30 years. Rare. One of the very few remaining. Certainly available for a return to Germany if desired.

CONDITION

The finish is perfect. It plays perfectly. It was refinished, restrung and restored in 2000. The piano is in excellent condition with near perfect soundboard, bridges, action, felts, keytops (ivorine). It has been tuned to very near A440.

NOTE: Since pictures were taken, "original" lamps were imported from Switzerland and installed. It is now more beautiful than ever (1/1/06)

Inventory Item #210 on the "Availibility and Price List".

The Losche Jazzband pump. Motor has been changed to 110v AC. All the original electrical components remain, including the mercury contact switches. However, these are not connected. Losche Jazzband stack. Note how nice the hammers are. Pneumatic cloth looks good. If you like impressive German design, you'll love this Losche!
