The attached picture from the estate of Cecil B. DeMille shows what he did with a Phillips (PM) Piano, facade pipes, and the full wooden / metal pipes, instrumentation and percussion of a Phillips / Wurlitzer PianoOrchestrion, in the 1940s. Of course, all of us remember the GIGANTIC movies of his era, including BEN HUR, the TEN COMMANDMANTS and many others produced under the "magic" of Cecil B. DeMille. Although the original "DeMille" PM organ is now in a famous collection, a wonderful creator / restorer in Onterio, Canada will produce a duplicate that is "better than ever".
All vintage parts have now been assembled, i.e., pipes (ca 1880), Phillips PM piano (ca 1910) , facade (ca. 1900) bells (ca. 1920), percussion, etc. However, a MIDI system (ca. 2003) will be added. Of course, there will be 50 original PM rolls included which will play the entire instruments, just like the early 1900s.
But just imagine an unobtrusive MIDI system that will perform just about EVERY PM tune (ca. 1900s) ever issued, i.e., hundreds and hundreds. WOW!!!! Now that is something, even better that DeMille could have imagined or enjoyed over 60 years ago.
Construction of this Cecil B. DeMille "look-a-like" with VINTAGE parts will begin soon with the instrument available in 2004. Experience the TRUE, FULL SOUND of a HUGE Piano Mandolin Piano / Orchestra, much better than the Cecil B. DeMille organ of the 40s and much more convenient.
