We have collected, traded and sold dozens of calliopes by makers such as Tangley, Hanchett, and others. But we have NEVER had a rare National 53-pipe calliope in our inventory. In 40 years of collecting, we have had only ONE opportunity to acquire a unit like the National and it was "priced out-of-sight".
The calliope is complete with a powerful (but small) external blower to provide strong but "clean" calliope music. And of course, it may be played from the keyboard or the installed roll player. Six (6) "Calliphone" rolls are included for beautiful performances of your favorite tunes.
The National Calliope will be available soon after receiving a 100-points restoration in the famous shops of The Great Canadian Nickelodeon Company, Ltd. Ron Schmuck is a fourth generation restorer of mechanical musical items. The pictures here are of the National Calliope, "as found". It will be a rare, magnificent example when its restoration is completed.
Please let us know soon if you have any interest in this item. When restoration is completed, it should sell quickly, just in time for the summer season. Connect the National blower to a portable generator and you are ready for any parade or activity.
