When you sit down on this beautiful chair , you hear a wonderful two-tune musical box perform. My beautiful grand daughter "stared" on this chair when she appeared on a recent TV "special" in the Philadelphia , PA area. In over 40 years of collecting musical boxes, I have only seen a few of these fascinating, heavily carved musical chairs. There are no two exactly alike. This heavily carved chair is in super condition with no breaks or repairs.

There is a Swiss cylinder 2-tune movement inside. When a guest sits down, the chair will start to play music! Back in the early 1900s, a crying child could be placed on the chair and hear the music. Results?.....a happy child!! When you or your guest stands up, the chair will finish the tune and cut off automatically. The small winding key is out of sight on the bottom of the chair near the front.

All four of the legs are carved to resemble tree limbs. I place the vintage of this wonderful item at 100 years. The legs can be removed on wooden threaded dowels and are numbered for easy removal and / or storage.

This extremely rare musical chair measures 33 1/2" high. The 3-D carving is highly detailed and perfect. Note the grape leaves and cluster of grapes!The seat bottom is also carved with leaves and stems. A special bolt from the bottom holds the spring-loaded top of the chair in place to cover the music box movement. The back of the chair is carved in great detail . Beautiful!
