One of the largest disk boxes ever produced was the Komet HUGE disk musical box. In our 40 years of searching, we have never encountered a single or double Komet with bells and butterfly strikers, of this size, UNTIL NOW.
Our Shoppe recently purchased this magnificent single 33-1/4" disk Komet upright, complete with 14 bells, gallery and base. This is the ONLY one we have ever found for sale. Three others are in museums in Germany, Holland and Japan.
Our shoppe recently purchased the original case and 20 sets of disks FOR THE ONLY DOUBLE 33-1/3" KNOWN TO EXIST IN THE WORLD. Currently, the double is being returned to original condition by several "expert" technicians in the UK. The double with plenty of disks and 28 bells is expected to be available in mid-2008.
This single KOMET instrument has received a complete inspection, adjustment and restoration (as needed) by a world-class US technician. We will acquire 20 additional 33-1/3" disks from Europe bringing the total to 32. Fortunately, the other owners of these wonderful pieces have added to their own inventory, making additional new disks available for our Shoppe.
This instrument measures over 10 feet high, nearly 4 feet wide and about 3 feet deep. Where have you ever seen another?
(NOTE: During the summer of 2008, I will again listen to two of the other three 33-1/3" Komets in famous European museums but neither has their original galleries like the one currently in our Shoppe.
