Restoration/rebuilding of this instrument, the largest orchestrion ever offered by our Shoppe is nearing completion. We are so excited that we want to give you a preliminary peek at this magnificent German Losche Orchestrion before the work is completed.
The Losche Orchestrion begins with a very strong piano enclosed in a beautiful 10-1/2 feet high by 8 feet wide by 6 feet deep carved case. The Orchestrion contains over 550 wooden and metal (mostly reed) pipes, including oboe, trumpet, clarinets, French horn, flutes, violins, strings, etc. Other instruments include a 61-note rosewood bar xylophone, 61-note glock (bells bars); full percussion, including cymbals (rhythm and crash), bass, snare and tymphany drums, triangle, tambourine, castanets, etc. This Orchestrion will contain just about every effect and "sound" found in any Orchestrion of this type.
In the center, top opening with be an eight-element automaton
moving scene, including a:
- Dirigible
- Hot air balloon
- Windmill with moving blades
- Train crossing from right to left
- Water "flowing" under the bridge
- Two Victorian figures "walking" across the bridge.
- Lighted clock tower with the actual time and a
- "Sailing" clipper ship (in the distance)
The instrument will perform superbly using 14" original Losche Orchestrion rolls, 25 of which are included (new recuts and excellent condition originals). In addition, the instrument contains a full-range MIDI system that will operate this Orchestrion to the fullest extent possible, with automatic register control, synchronized percussion and many other features. Whether playing a soft, strings melody or a booming finale to your favorites symphony, this instrument will handle it all from the hundreds of orchestrated midi melodies included.
