Our Business Practices
Availability, Descriptions, Pricing, Shipping

1. A price list for all available items in inventory can be found by reviewing the "AVAILABILITY AND PRICE" listing. Prices are normally guaranteed for six months from date of update. However, prices may be adjusted at any time, without notice, if there is an unexpected surge or fall in the market, e. g, the Mills Violanos (higher) and reproducer grand pianos (lower). Prices are routinely compared with the market and adjusted accordingly. The selling price for any item is the price that prevails at the time a commitment to purchase is made. (To avoid misunderstandings, a potential buyer should not put a "commitment to purchase" and discussion of a lower price in the same communication.) You may wish to verify the "latest" price list before you express interest in an item to avoid unnecessary concerns about "unexpected price changes". Except on multiple purchases, listed prices are not subject to further reduction.

2. Every effort is made to accurately represent/describe any item offered for sale, such as origin (history) of the item, maker, rarity, age, playing condition and defects, etc. However, a personal onsite inspection of any item can be arranged and is strongly encouraged for any purchase (required for items above $10,000) before you make a final decision. This helps to prevent disappointment, "misunderstandings," and unintended misrepresentation between the buyer and seller.

3. Some major items may be offered while still undergoing restoration. estimates of availability (completion of the restoration) are subject to change. As the larger items are disassembled for restoration, the full scope of needed work is more apparent, possibly extending the restoration completion date estimate and increasingthe final selling price. After a complete understanding of the "finished product" (for items being restored), a potential buyer may make a 20% deposit to hold item for up to 6 months. However, unless the "finished product" is significantly different in price or quality than promised, the buyer is obligated to finish the transaction or forfeit the deposit.

4. Most items are offered in excellent operating condition. On larger machines, full restorations have generally been completed within the past 5 - 10 years. Many large items in our inventory have been restored within the past two years. Twenty of the largest items on the inventory listing are currently undergoing restoration in Canada. The estimated completion date of these items is usually shown in the Item Description. Some small items, i.e., miniature bird boxes, require frequent "exercising" and periodic lubrication to insure good performance. Any such item needing attention is inspected by an expert miniature music box technician and adjusted/lubricated before shipment to a buyer. If an unsuspected, uncorrectible problem is detected at that time, the buyer is notified to confirm ongoing interest.

5. All items are FOB Hockessin, Delaware USA. We will pack small items according to your specific instructions at no cost. We have access to Fed-X, UPS, Airborne, and Yellow Freight or can use the US Postal Service, if you wish. The shipping costs may be prepaid or the item can be shipped collect, as you wish. Insure any shipment appropriately; the Shoppe can not be and is not responsible for damage to any item during shipment. The Shoppe can provide a list of possible shippers for larger items, if you wish. However, this list does not necessarily constitute a Shoppe endorsement of any particular shipper. We recommend you choose a reputable mover known to you for the greatest satisfaction and lowest cost pricing.

6. International payments can be wired to the Shoppe's bank in US Dollars, if desired. Bank wiring (transfers) and personal checks in the US are acceptable; however, purchased items will be released for shipment to the buyer 10 banking days after the check is deposited (for any buyer unknown to the Shoppe and first-time buyers ). Sorry, no credit cards or debit cards can be accepted at this time.

7. Color computer printed pictures are usually available for any item offered for sale. These can usually be E-mailed in any standard picture format such as JPG, GIF, etc., etc., for any serious potential buyer. Snail mail can also be used, if necessary. However, remember that the Shoppe sells to the first customer with a valid "commitment to purchase."

8. Shoppe personnel usually respond to any e-mail inquiry within 24 hours. This form of communication is quick and is strongly encouraged to help avoid disappointment if the item is sold to another customer. Snail mail requires additional time, of course, but often leads to disappointment. Sorry, all items are subject to availability on a "first come - first served" basis. Our staff stands ready to answer any and all questions (e-mail preferred). However, we do not purchase , sell or offer advice on regular pianos, player pianos or pump organs.
