Tight Rope Walker by Philabois
This extremely rare automaton was featured in the Summer 1984 issue of "The Music Box", The Journal of the Musical Box Society of Great Britain, during its restoration to beautiful condition (included if you purchase). Music is provided by a large 6" cylinder (2" in diameter) playing four aires as the three figures in this piece perform.

The tight-rope walker moves his head, arms, legs and feet as he moves back and forth on the tight-rope. The legs / feet move to do very fancy footwork on the rope including a knee bend in mid-rope. The two musician below move from side-to- side as they "play" their musical instruments. An original French key is provided for spring winding. You must see this automaton perform to appreciate it full capabilities, both musically and animation.

This piece was fully restored in 1984 to original condition by experts in England. The dome, although quite nice, is thought to be a later replacement.

This Item is #49 on the "Availibility and Price List".
